Airedale Cookie Cutter

I made this cute Airedale Terrier Cookie using the

Airedale Terrier Cookie Cutter from our Cloud K9®  website.

This cookie cutter can also be used to represent a Welsh Terrier, Lakeland Terrier or Irish Terrier!

1. Use the dog shaped cookie cutter to cut the cookie from the sugar cookie dough and bake according to your recipe or package instructions.
2. Let the cookie cool completely before icing it.
3. Spread chocolate decorating icing to the edges of the cookie and let it dry. (Or use melted milk chocolate chips, as I did for the cookie in the photo above, and let the chocolate harden after applying to the cookie.) (Remember: chocolate can be toxic to dogs, so these cookies are only for people.)
4. Add the black 'saddle' marking, eye, and nose with black decorating icing as shown in the photo above.
5. Let the icing dry.

February is Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month!

Rabbits are wonderful pets.  Many people don't realize that rabbits can be litter box trained!

For more information on rabbits, visit The House Rabbit Society.

There are many great organizations that place rescued rabbits in new homes.

One place to check is petfinder.com  Petfinder lists more than just cats and dogs!  Under the "Animal" drop down menu, just select rabbit and enter your ZIP code.

You can adopt somebunny special! We adopted a rescued rabbit, Paisley, and we're glad we did!

The Beauty of Nature

A year ago we went to Alton / Grafton, Illinois to watch the bald eagles. What was different during this visit from any other visit, was the weather!  It was absolutely beautiful for being early February in the Midwest!

I will share this beautiful photo that captures the essence of the day...taken on the afternoon of February 6th 2009.

Thumper

While a dog might bark to alert its neighbors, rabbits use their hind feet to alert other rabbits of danger.

That is, they thump their hind foot very hard on the ground as a warning.

This is why the rabbit in the Walt Disney movie Bambi is named "Thumper."

So why am I posting this information? Paisley the Rabbit decided at 4:45 am that there was something she needed to warn everyone about! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!

What was worrying her? I do not know! But obviously, it was very important to her.

Luckily, whatever it was went away and we all went back to sleep!

Rottweiler Cookie Cutter

I made this cute Rottweiler Cookie using the

Rottweiler Cookie Cutter from our Cloud K9®  website.

1. Use the dog shaped cookie cutter to cut the cookie from the sugar cookie dough and bake according to your recipe or package instructions.
2. Let the cookie cool completely before icing it.
3. Spread the black decorating icing to the edges of the cookie and let it dry.
4. Add the brown marking with chocolate decorating icing (or melted and slightly cooled milk chocolate chips) as shown in the photo above. (Note: chocolate can be toxic to dogs, so these cookies are only to be eaten by people.)
5. Let the icing dry.

Groundhog Day

Today is Groundhog Day...so what will our weather be here in the Midwest?
Well, the groundhog did not see his shadow...so that means we should have an early spring!
Sounds like a great forecast to me.
We will monitor the weather to see if this prediction is correct!

Schnauzer Cookie Cutter

I made this cute Schnauzer Cookie using the

Schnauzer Cookie Cutter from our Cloud K9®  website.

1. Use the dog shaped cookie cutter to cut the cookie from the sugar cookie dough and bake according to your recipe or package instructions.
2. Let the cookie cool completely before icing it.
3. Spread grey decorating icing (made by combining white and black) to the edges of the cookie and let it dry. (Try using a plastic knife with serrated edges to achieve the texture as shown in the photo.)
4. Add the eye and nose with black decorating icing as shown in the photo above.
5. Let the icing dry.
